Erasing is not an option. My head works in wondrous ways. It can go in every possible direction. That is something you will see when looking at my body of work. It is very diverse and experimental. Even I don't know where some projects will end most of the time. I like to work with different media, experimenting to find out what works best. My way of working includes inspecting every possible angle and trying out all the ideas that come to me. The permanent draws me in as well. Working with markers without sketching first is my favourite way to make drawings. This way, you have to accept your mistakes and work with them. In het kader van dit project maken AKI-studenten met lokaal gewonnen klei een servies dat wordt getoond in het museum. Onder het relatief jonge cultuurlandschap van Twente bevindt zich een miljoenen jaren oud landschap, bestaande uit grondstoffen voor een onverzadigbare wereld. Wat kunnen lokale grondstoffen ons leren over de plek? Hoe kan het begrijpen van de oorsprong van deze materialen ons helpen ze verstandiger te gebruiken? Met deze vragen als uitgangspunt ontwikkelen studenten van de AKI in duo's met zelf gegraven klei uit Twentse bodem een dinerservies voor twee personen met als thema ‘overvloed en schaarste’. Atelier NL De workshop wordt begeleid door docenten van de keramiekwerkplaats van de AKI en de gerenommeerde designstudio Atelier NL uit Eindhoven. Atelier NL toont de waarde van lokale materialen en de schoonheid van de natuurlijke wereld door ruwe grondstoffen als klei en zand om te vormen tot tastbare, alledaagse voorwerpen. De afgelopen tien jaar hebben ze een gepassioneerde onderzoeksmethode ontwikkeld die de verborgen verhalen van de aarde en alles wat zij voortbrengt onthult – van het landschap als geheel tot op moleculair niveau. Atelier NL ziet design als een middel om de vitale verbinding tussen mens en omgeving te herstellen. Kunstenlandschap In Rijksmuseum Twenthe worden niet alleen de resultaten van de workshop getoond. Ook het werkproces wordt gedocumenteerd en gepresenteerd.
